‘Kissed by a Pit’ Challenge Celebrates Pit Bulls, Raises Money for Rescues and Shelters

The makers of the well-known ALS Ice Bucket Challenge have inspired the creation of a new kind of challenge geared toward animal lovers nationwide: the “Kissed by a Pit” Challenge.
Introduced by Dog Park Publishing on August 20, challenge creators are encouraging animal lovers across the country to help change the public’s perception of pit bulls and raise money for animal rescues and shelters by posting pictures of themselves kissing their pit bulls using the hash tag #kissedbyapit and tagging @ittypitties.
“Today we’re starting our Kissed by a Pit Challenge to change the perception of pit bulls,” said Alfred C. Martino of Dog Park Publishing the day the challenge began. “Dog Park Publishing will donate $5 of every order through the end of the month to local shelters. We challenge you to be kissed by a pit, and also donate $5 to your local rescue or shelter.”
The company, which sells pet calendars and other products, introduced a new line of Kissed by a Pit hoodies and t-shirts to kick off the challenge, and animal lovers across the country are taking advantage of this unique opportunity to post pictures of their lovable pits.
Some celebrities are even getting in on the challenge; actresses Sophia Bush and Emmanuelle Vaugier, comedian Rebecca Corry, spokesmodel Paige Duke and MMA fighter Gordon Shell have all taken the Kissed by a Pit Challenge and their pictures are currently featured on Dog Park Publishing’s website.
“We are thrilled with the response we have already received,” Dog Park Publishing co-founders Alisa Weberman and Jonathan Korzen said in a statement to HuffPost. “It means we are showing pit bulls in a positive light and raising money for rescues and shelters across the world.”
